Villas Gemse + Steinbock

Our holiday chalets Villa Steinbock and Villa Gemse together make up a very large, stone double villa, which you can rent for a maximum of 12 people. The vacation homes are situated in a quiet neighbourhood with similar villas, in the small town of Kötschach-Mauthen in Carinthia, Austria.

At the rear-end of the holiday houses, there are two spacious adjacent balcony-roofed patios both equipped with dining tables and chairs as well as a barbecue. The children can play around on the large lawn, or you can set up your sunchair and enjoy the sun-drenched Carinthian summer!

The village centre around the church is in walking distance, and features some stores, shops, restaurants and of course the beer Stubes for a nice pint or glass of decent red wine (we are on the borders of Italy after all).

Inside the villas, the finish is meticulous and the decoration tasteful, we daresay! Wood stoves (purely for your enjoyment, there is central heating) with ample wood supply, a luxuriously endowed kitchen and satellite Television. And of course wifi, because your children don’t actually watch television anymore.

Is the double villa too much for you? You can also rent Villa Steinbock or Villa Gemse separately if you wish. In that case, the maximum number of guests is 6 persons.

Carinthia and the Gail valley

The area brims with activity! In winter of course, winter sports are vastly popular: skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiiing, sledding, etc. The chances of snow are virtually 100%.

In spring, summer and fall, there is a vast network of meticulously detailed walking, hiking and cycling routes. The mountain lakes around here are a true sight for sore eyes, and there’s a plethora of things you can do here: simply lounging on the beach, rent a boat, waterskiing, you name it. In Kötschach-Mauthen itself, and also great fun in the winter time, is the swimming paradise Aquarena. Oh, and we would almost forget to mention golf, horseback riding, paintball, kletterpark, ziplines, summer tobogganing, tennis, jewelry mining, or visiting a museum, the enchanted forest or a zoo.
